While I was checking their Generasia page I saw the name Shinjou Saki, listed as a former member. Any info on her? just curious on how their sound will be different if they are a four piece band with another guitar player or back up vocals.

My thoughts if Saki was still together with Stereopony, well I'll divide that in two parts one good and one bad.

Pros:
1. She will have the spotlight like Aimi, Nohana, and Shiho.
2. Saki will be able to write lyrics in music to express her feelings to her fans and audiences.
3. The band will be a four member like Scandal instead of three.
4. Saki would have the spotlight for people who like the other guitarist other than Aimi.
5. She would be famous and popular, get to travel to places and have lots of fun.
6. More songs could be released.

Cons:
1. A buttload of more pictures for the gallery.
2. Saki would probably have a twitter or ameblo which would result in even more pictures.
3. The past with the 3 members will change.
4. Songs that were released could be different.
5. Saki would dump whatever she gave up being in a band and actually be in one.

Those are what I think would happen if Saki continued to be with Stereopony, but that's just me.

*Edit* WTF stupid bullets

Yeh agreed with more famous - the more members = more variety = more fans. Just look at AKB48 LOL they're massive.

hmm, I think I've seen a pic of Stepo with her, but I couldn't tell who it was, I was like: a girl with a black Les Paul custom… Never seen her before, hmm wonder who she is. Well as Derek said, more members, more vareity does for more fans.DOT.

Yeah, I wondered about that too when I heard them in concert, there was some guy in the back next to Shiho, I figured he was feeding in the lead guitar for Aimi. In the studio they probably do the songs twice, once with Aimi on lead guitar, then again with her on rhythm guitar and then master the two together. I used to be an audio production guy at my college station, so it's easy enough to do.

If Saki was still with them, judging by how they sounded when they were Mixbox, they'd be too much like SCANDAL.

Aimi would still do rhythm guitar, but wouldn't have to probably record twice or have a playback because there'd actually someone on stage to do it. That and Saki would probably bust out some guitar solo every song like Mami does. Not that I have any complaints about Mami's guitar solos. :m153:

Saki as kuchiki said would definitely bring her own thing to the band just like Nohana and Shiho do, but that "thing" might change the sound of the band for the worse. It's the fact there's only three members and that Aimi does double duty on guitar that make Stereopony unique over a group like SCANDAL.

Saki would have her own followers, I'm sure just like other bands, but I think I'd still be an Aimi and Shiho fan.

I hope there are no hard feelings between our girls and Saki, and she's probably kicking herself for missing out on what could have been, unless she did find another band to play in, but I like Stereopony just the way they are.

But collaborations and guest musicians for songs is perfectly fine with me. Particularly a certain rabid otaku from SCANDAL... :m048: :m107:

Or Aimi doing lead guitar for YUI and letting us see how good she really is... :m107:

Things happen the way they do for a reason, and this just happened to be how Stereopony's journey turned out. I really do hope there wasn't a falling out between her and Aimi or the others; too many good bands die out because of ::ahem:: "creative differences"; look what happened to their fellow Okinawans HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR(although I doubt someone's going to sweep Aimi off her feet, she leaves, they find someone to replace her and the next album tanks because the group's just not the same without Aimi). I won't even look for burrigurri's new album because Ryo Matsui left. :'(

Very nice Destonus, you make some pretty good statements there. Now I kind of take back some of the things I've said since they seemed pretty one sided for the cons about Saki.

Come to think of it, Saki is probably living a happy and normal life outside of the celebrity status. There are benefits to not being in a band and famous too right? Saki can find her love one, she can have children, and best of all have the leisure to do whatever. Most likely Saki probably went to college and earned her degree, has a working job, but most importantly enjoying life.

Like I said under the Mixbox photos thread about possibilities why she left, my best guess is Sony liked them better as a threesome. SCANDAL is also with Sony but under a different label than our girls, and having two bands very similar doesn't sound like it would net the record company or the band much money.

My theory is that Sony would only sign them if it was just Aimi, Nohana, and Shiho, no Saki; take it or leave it. The girls talked about it and felt that it was better for three of them to have a shot as opposed to none at all, and they went their seperate ways with Saki's blessing. Maybe they did try and negotiate to have Saki in there, but Sony wouldn't budge. It sucks to be the one left out, but if it were me and three of my friends, I'd want them to have their shot, because they might never get another chance like it.

I mean, Puffy AmiYumi was formed because they liked Ami, and they liked Yumi, but they were missing something by themselves, and it turned out that thing that was missing was them as a duo. HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR was formed similarly, then their lead singer got married and they broke up after one album with a new singer.

My other best guess is that they were signed as a foursome, but then for whatever reason Saki decided to or had to leave. Maybe her parents needed her for the family buisness, and when Tou-san and Ka-san ask you to jump, you ask how high. Or she decided to go to college, or just as you said kuchiki, the benefits of not being in a famous band outweighed those of being in one.

I mean, Saki probably liked being in a band, but it was more a hobby than it was a career choice, whereas this is what Aimi wanted to do with her life. Maybe Saki's parents let her keep playing guitar but kept insisting that she go to college, and the others' parents were more supportive of their daughters' dreams. Celebs are always thanking their parents or teachers or whomever for supporting them in following their dreams. Plus it's cool to say, "Well, my daughter Aimi's/Nohana's/Shiho's lead singer/bassist/drummer in a rock band!" Ultimate bragging rights. Saki for all I know gets front row seats for all their shows from the band. Saying "I know those guys!" has it's benefits too. :)

She might have regrets, seeing how Aimi and the others have done, but all in all she believes she made the right decision, if she had the chance to make it instead of being told, "We just want these three, you're out or no deal."

It would have been nice if she could be with the band now, but sad to say, Stereopony just wouldn't be Stereopony with Saki. :(

I just seriously knock on wood and hope that Saki's decision was hers or was made for her by Sony, because I don't want to have to face the thought of Aimi, Nohana, or Shiho having anything to do with her decision to leave.

When VGD asked them about Mixbox or Saki, was it that they wouldn't talk about it, or Sony wouldn't let them? That in itself would shed some light on whether the seperation was postive or negative.

^This theory is WAY too overgeneralized in my opinion. First of all, Chatmonchy is a three piece member band who are also under Sony record label. Not only that, they formed BEFORE Stereopony which wouldn't make sense as to why Stereopony could not have a fourth member. How can Stereopony copy SCANDAL when they could also be copying Chatmonchy?. Just because both groups are rock does NOT mean they're similar in play style. That's like saying because I'm 5'7 in height and Charizard (Pokemon) is also 5'7 I have to be 5'6. NO.

Why would Sony even reject a fourth member? And why does it have to be Saki? It couldn't have been Aimi, Nohana, or Shiho? Numbers in a band doesn't make a difference. Just look at AKB48 as a prime example.

^Actually, Aimi wanted to be a hairstylist and she had been playing the guitar ever since high school so this was her hobby as well. Aimi saw Shiho and Nohana then thought they'd look great together playing in a band. Originally the girls were discovered on School of Lock which in other words is a struck of opportunity because they could have been rejected thus not earning a music deal. Not all celebrities thank their parents, not to mention their parents don't even support them. Oh and bragging doesn't really get you anywhere in life other than being an douche.

^I highly doubt Saki regrets being in a band. Even famous celebrities at times wish they were just normal people, but they just can't. AGAIN the number of band members doesn't matter.

^I don't think that really matters since you will never know the outcome. Sometimes change is a good thing.

^Private information that doesn't want to be told. You can imagine how people will react to it and it can change the band's persona.

I hope I didn't mean to whore you with everything I said right there haha. Feels like I'm defending Saki even though I don't even know her.

No, I had it coming now that I think about it. I made too many assumptions and made an ass of myself in the process. :(

I only said Saki was the one they decided to cut because this thread is about her, but you're absolutely right, it could have been any of them Sony didn't want. Size obviously doesn't matter, because Stereopony even with four or eight people still would sound different from Scandal or any other band for that matter.

So Aimi wanted to be a stylist before music took her life in a different direction? That explains why they have such great hair all the time. :)

I know Tomomi and Haruna wanted to be dancers before they became Scandal, they made their fame from being in bleach and because the CD copies sold out faster than ever anticipated.

My speculations were based mainly on the fact that because Stereopony was tight-lipped when asked about her, I assumed something bad happened between the four of them and that's why they didn't discuss it.

But it might be nothing more than they want Saki to have her privacy and be simply Shinjou Saki, not Saki, ex-member of Stereopony. They probably keep in touch with her behind the scenes, but publicly are simply protecting Saki from those media vultures which would descend on her like rotting carrion if her whereabouts were discovered. They'd never leave her alone, and that in turn would hurt the band, because the media comes up with more far-fetched theories and jumps to conclusions faster than I do. Stereopony has nothing to hide from its fans, they just want to keep Saki's life seperate from theirs as Stereopony, no crazy three out of four contracts or "creative differences", Saki for whatever reason decided to step out of the limelight and that was that.

You said that they tried out for School of Rock and the prize was a recording contract, right? Maybe she never thought they'd get as far as they did, let alone win, and when it actually happened she decided the life of a celebrity wasn't for her. That totally throws the stupid "We want you three and not her" theory out the window. They won BECAUSE of her, so unless the person offering the contract was a bigger idiot than I was thinking it, they would sign the four of them on the spot. If she decides to step away after the fact, that's her decision. We can spectulate all we want about what Stereopony would be like if she was still in it, but unless we can enter a parallell universe where she stayed in the band, we'll never know for sure.

I mean, the four of them went to school together, right? I should have never had a cruel thought like a Stereopony poster dartboard cross my mind. Even now, there are probably times when the three of them get on each other's nerves and they need some Aimi, Shiho or Nohana time away from each other. One of my friends from college drove me up the wall and down the other more times than I can count, but I still keep in touch with her. It would be no different for our girls.

As you said kuchiki, she's probably happily married, graduated from college, enjoying her life, but rooting for her friends Aimi, Nohana and Shiho and hopes their journey as Stereopony continues for a very long time, just as we do.

I'll try not to jump to conclusions in the future if I'm just going to fall on my face...

EDIT: Typed this on my tablet earlier. As I said before, posting without an actual keyboard is hard! :m187:
